yeah the framing is maybe a little distracting. Last year my goal was to try to get the image exposed properly and not have, over exposed or under-exposed shots. I've gotten better at that, but now my goal is to get better framings, and to be more aware of keeping things level. I've been reading a lot of the critiques on dA since they've added that feature. The photography book I read didn't have anything about the Rule of Thirds, which is apparently very important. I think everyone agrees though that even that rule has to be broken sometimes.
while it would be interesting to see the framing of this shot shifted over to the right, I also like how it is. It's nice to have some extra frame on the left. It seems to tell more of a story about him and where he might be throwing the ball. The short frame on the right kinda works as well. They are kind of on the sidelines in a completely different frame of mind than the boy with the ball. Perhaps it's perfect. To be honest, I know the rule of thirds and very rarely use it... mostly for very simple shots (one person, one flower, etc). I just tend to go with what looks right on a particular photo.
Thankyou for the comment- I think it's fair -- Frenglish and proud -- Greetings from Germany |
